Getting back into the Swing of Things

It's taking some time but am gradually getting back into the day to day running of the studio...I'd forgotten where stuff was. Think its a mixture of being still in beach bum mode and my age!!!!

Already there is lots of new things happening with quite a few new designers getting on board and their work will soon be out on the shelves in both the boutique and gallery areas.

I'm also expecting a delivery today of more designs to add to my new range of fine art greetings cards. These have been well received by my regular customers and I must admit because they are giclee printed the colours are amazing..so vivid and true to the original.

My website with online shop is going very well and I am about to upload about a hundred more products over the next few weeks so watch this space.

As you probably know I' m always moving things around in the gallery to keep things looking refreshed and it keeps my regulars on their toes.

This time I spent two full days moving the Boutique Area around. Those poor glass cabinets have been everywhere but look nice in their new home.

This has all been to make way for even more gorgeous jewellery which is one of my best sellers.

My customers love the fact that they can purchase of piece either for themselves or as a gift knowing that it was not mass produced and made here in Britain.

Many even commission the Designers to make them that special piece and they are so thrilled.

It is great to offer such a personal service and a girl can never have enough jewellery.

I am already planning move for the other three rooms so watch this space.

A lovely Start to the Year

I feel as though Spring is at the far end of the tunnel and I can't wait. Crisp Derbyshire days are great...I don't mind cold it is the rain that is oh so miserable.

Anyway got a great year planned in the studio and had a good start so far. Several enquiries from galleries regarding my work which is great as they approached me. I tend to sell my work just here so be good to get it out and about.

I'm currently working with a Derbyshire design company on producing a fabulous ecommerce website to have an online shop selling a varied range of work currently on offer at Studio 61...this is so exciting.

Plus already getting lined up more Ladies Evenings so make sure you are on the mailing list to find out more.

Inspirational week so far

What a week so far....started off not too good but then just got better....the icing on the cake was the joy of seeing all the Chilean miners rescued safely. It was so uplifting to turn on the news and hear something truly amazing. It puts into perspective life in general.

Had a lovey day yesterday in the studio.. quite demanding though as I was audited as part of my Environmental Quality Mark awarded by the Peak District National Park. Two and a half hours but worth it as I am passionate about the ethical side of my business.

The grand finale yesterday was the sale of one of my favourite paintings....Love is in the Air. This is was inspired by the ladybird balloon which often flies over my home...plus is one of the fragrances from my Bath Body & Boudoir Range...Lemon and Honey.

I wonder what today will bring?

I've been back from holiday a week and feel as though that was it for Summer.

Had 2 lovely weeks in Cornwall, the sun was out, the sky was blue the surf was up....

this photo was taken at 8.45 pm after we'd been surfing and were having a BBQ on the beach. The same time this week we were sat at home with a roaring fire and it was dark outside

.....how weird is that?

I'm loving the sunshine and now looking forward to my holiday in Cornwall. My new window display is called The Seaside.

Have lots of lovely seaside themed stock in now which is great and my customers are loving it.... we could not be further from the sea so this brings the sea to Derbyshire.

My Guest Exhibitions on at the momet are both exciting.

Justine Nettleton's dramatic paintings are inspired by her time spent in West Park in Long Eaton, Nottingham.

The Guest Designer is Renee Kilburns beautiful ceramics. These are hand made and then prettily hand painted.... the effect is stunning. This picture shows just a few of the pieces on display.

Its raining and cold here in Derbyshire but Ive been painting more pieces for the the Seaside Collection which makes me feel happier..and warmer.

The seaside range from my HeART Ceramics are going down really well...... we could not be more distant from the sea here in Derbyshire but folk must be buying them to remind them of their holidays and sunnier times.

Where's the Sun

The Sun has disappeared today and it's raining. Getting my fix of Sun and blue skies by looking at my photos from Cornwall.

Taken last year at Minnack Theatre.. we went back one evening to watch a Comedy and got put in the "birds nest". Its the little stone balcony..look above the man in blue on the stage go three steps up. My daughter was soooo embarrassed. Had a flashback to The Muppets.. remember the two grumpy old men

The courtyard is a lovely sunny spot and will soon be filled with tubs, flowers and hanging baskets all for sale and lovingly grown on a farm on The Chatsworth Estate.

I now sell their gorgeous aromatic gifts such as Dream Pillows filled with lavender, pot pouri jars filled with rose petals and topped with vintage material........... with more stock arriving.

I've put up a new exhibition today by Keith Wright - Photographic Artist. Keith's photographs have a dreamlike quality due to a technique he has used.. not done in photoshop either. These images are inspired by his childhood memories of Woollaton Park in Nottingham. Please pop in and have a look if you can.

All Quiet on the Western Front

A funny day today....... hardly any cars going by just lots of walkers popping in....but a quiet day has given me time to catch up with emails and ordering new paints for my ceramics.

Also got more goodies being made for me by my mate Elaine......a lovely new range of Room Fragrances........... again "my paintings inspired fragrances" like the rest of my range....... this month Gone for A Dip seems to be selling best...... lovely & subtle Lavender & Bergomot and 100% natural.

Word is out that I have reopened and am now in- undated with enquiries from artists and designers.

One appointment today was with a lovely lady from Minxenamels who hand makes dichroic glass and guess what.. she loves VWs and has a T25 who is even older than Stan (he's my T4 VW campervan.. come on keep up!!!)

I now have some of her lovely glass jewellery and some funky VW and hearts glass coasters. Also been talking about getting my paintings of the buses (VW talk) onto her glass........... exciting eh!!!

I've put a new exhibition up today..... by Mark Crowfoot. Large Oils on Canvas. Very bold & dramatic. On until 17 April. He specialises in portraits.

Been a lovely day with lots of locals popping in for a look....coffee machine working a treat.

Day Off

Having my first day off in what seems like yonks...now playing with my new laptop. Reflecting on the busy opening weekend....... so good to catch up with family, friends and customers.

Loads of photos were taken by friend & Guest Artist Janice but this is one I took of The Kiln Room.... my Bath, Body & Boudoir Range and HeART Ceramics suit this room well and it smells lovely.

Will be uploading lots of opening pictures onto my website once Ive mastered this Windows 7 thing.

Officially Open!!!

Well it's been a mad few days but Studio 61 is now officially open. I had a thoroughly enjoyable Reopening Day with lots of familiar faces and a visit from friend and famous artist Peter Smith (& lovely wife Jayne) ....& he put me on his blog!! Very pleased to see them both and that he took time out of his busy schedule/UK Tour to call in. check out his website http://www.petersmithcollective.co.uk/

The studio looks great and in today's sunshine it was gleaming.

Great to see my customers again, one couple bought another original today, their third painting of mine and they loved the place.

Only One More Sleeps

Yes only one more sleeeps til I reopen my new studio. Had another long day and its looking good.... still got lots of plans for it but for now it is fine... am sure you will all love it... it got the thumbs up from R & D the gardeners... you will see their fine work if you visit...they got all "arty"towards the end and results are ace.

The Final Countdown

Just 2 more days to get sorted ready for the opening do........... lots still to do but enjoying the build up.

I'm loving it.. all chilled and calm they reckon. Looking forward to seeing all my customers, friends, fellow artists and designers.

After all the hard work by Mr & Mrs P, my Hubby, Mum and Dad & our fantastic workmen there is only one word to describe the new studio......... WOW

Final Week !

The Floor is down and it looks fantastico!! Had a lovely weekend moving stuff into the studio and can finally see the carpet in my upstairs lounge after six months of looking like a stock room.

I'm not going to upload any pictures here of how it is looking..I don't want to spoil the surprise for those coming to the opening do on Friday.

Anyway, must catch up with emails and computer stuff before heading up to studio for another day sorting... today the jewellery cabinets are being cleaned and stocked. All good fun
